The teacher training programme consists of two stages and four areas. These are: subject-specific education, general pedagogical education, didactics and teaching internship. The following modules are relevant in the first stage of the degree programme: language proficiency, linguistics, literature, didactics, cultural studies and academic working. The second stage of the programme consists of the following modules: language proficiency, linguistics, literature, Anglophone cultural studies and didactics. The elective subjects constitute a module of their own. Here courses from English and American Studies or a combination of didactics and the courses offered in general pedagogical education and other course offers which are close to literature studies, linguistics and cultural studies are recommended. A teaching internship of twelve weeks must be done. The major examination in language proficiency, which must be passed both orally and in written form, should be done before the eighth semester. A study period abroad is recommended. The thesis must be written in English. The degree programme concludes with an oral degree examination.
