The course programme of the film academy consists of five bachelor programmes offered alongside each other (dramaturgy, camera technology and cinematography, film production, directing, and editing). The degree programme starts with an orientation phase. In the further course of the programme great importance is attached to a sound general education. The degree programme thus consists of compulsory subjects of the five central artistic subjects, i.e. camera technology and cinematography, dramaturgy, film production, directing, and editing. The focus of course is on camera technology and cinematography.

Definition of the field of studies

The degree programme Camera Technology and Cinematography focuses on the imparting of knowledge about camera technology and cinematography.

Exams

In the framework of the degree programme four work placements must be done: in the fields of camerawork in a documentary film without dub voice, camerawork or camera assistance in a film, camerawork in a documentary and camerawork in a feature film. The degree programme concludes with a bachelor examination. This includes an artistic-practical work and a written theoretical explanation of it, two bachelor theses and an examination before a committee including the presentation of the artistic-practical work and an oral question-and-answer session about the different parts of the bachelor examination.

Entrance examinations

The entrance examination consists of four parts: submission of the solved creative-practical assignments, oral question-and-answer session about the submitted works, practical-artistic work and oral examination by the examining committee. In the entrance examination proficiency in the German language must also be proved.
