Bachelor programme Screenplay Writing and Dramaturgy

The Film Academy offers five different bachelor degrees that run parallel to each other (Screenplay Writing and Dramaturgy, Camera Technology and Cinematography, Film Production, Directing, and Editing). The programme starts with an introduction phase. In the further course of the programme great importance is attached to a sound general education. The programme thus consists of compulsory subjects in the five central artistic subjects of Camera Technology and Cinematography, Screenplay Writing and Dramaturgy, Film Production, Directing, and Editing. The focus is of course on Screenplay Writing and Dramaturgy.

Definition of the field of studies

The focus of the degree programme is on imparting knowledge about Screenplay Writing and dramaturgy. The programme is to qualify graduates for screenplay writing.

Exams

Two practical assignments must be done in the course of the programme, both of which in the field of screenplay writing for a film. The programme concludes with a bachelor examination. This examination includes an artistic-practical assignment and a written-theoretical explanation of it, two bachelor theses and an examination before a committee including the presentation of the artistic-practical assignment and an oral interrogation about the individual parts of the bachelor examination.

Entrance examinations

The entrance examination consists of four parts: Submission of the creative-practical assignments, oral interrogation about the submitted assignments, written-creative assignment and oral examination by the examination committee. Proficiency in German must also be proved in the framework of the entrance examination.
