The focus of the Horticultural Sciences programme is on scientific examination of the issue of quality of horticultural products and production chains, especially with regard to sustainable, environmentally and socially compatible aspects (e.g. gender issues, development cooperation). The degree programme is thus strongly oriented towards basic and application-oriented research and in this context especially encourages analytical thinking and scientific action on a regional and international level. Graduates will be enabled to develop horticultural problem solutions both independently and in interdisciplinary and international teams. Very good communication skills are also imparted in this context. Specialisations and consolidation of knowledge are possible (partly abroad) by means of elective modules in the fields of breeding and biotechnology, plants and soil, biochemistry, plant protection, economics, plant production, and plant ecophysiology.
