The bachelor's course in English and American Studies deals with the language, cultures and literature of English-speaking countries and their varying dynamic developments. The programme will enhance the students' English language skills in both oral and written production (target level C2). The students will be qualified to adequately describe and analyse different current and historic manifestations of the English language in various types of texts (linguistics). Moreover, they will gain profound knowledge of the history of literature of anglophone countries and of literary periods and movements, genres, authors and works (literary studies). Last but not least the bachelor's course will impart a refined cultural knowledge of interesting cultural phenomena and the countries and people of the English-speaking world (cultural studies).
