Bachelor’s programme Speech Therapy

In the bachelor’s degree programme in “Speech and Language Therapy” the students will acquire the technical and methodical skills, socio-communicative skills and self-confidence as well as scientific expertise necessary for working in the speech therapy profession. These skills are taught within the framework of a scientifically based education in connection with practical training at the University of Applied Sciences for Health Professions Upper Austria and in work placements. Besides expertise in methodology the students will also acquire socio-communicative skills such as conflict management, the ability of self-reflection, capacity for teamwork, role distance, etc. Furthermore they will learn the basics of scientific work. In the accompanying internships the students will get the possibility to enhance their acquired expertise under expert guidance and put it into practice.

Entrance examinations

Applicants have to undergo a written test procedure consisting of a general and a subject-specific part as well as a practically oriented aptitude test, which checks whether the applicant meets the occupation-specific requirements and the health requirements. The practically oriented job-specific aptitude test mainly takes into account work organisation, social-communicative behaviour and reflective ability. In the course of the occupation-specific aptitude test the application documents will also be checked.
