Definition of the field of studies

Exams

The bachelor's programme lasts six semesters and includes the following subjects: Political and legal framework conditions of social work, Organisation of social work, Theory of social work (1st semester); Structures of living environments, Salutogenetic basics of social work (2nd semester); Methods and decision-making skills in social work 1, Basics of social work theory (3rd semester): Theories of social work, European and international social policy and social work, Structures of living environments (4th semester); work placement, bachelor thesis 1 (5th semester); Organisation of social work, Theory-practice reflexion, living environments, social and personal skills (6th semester). In the fourth semester the students can do an optional study abroad semester at one of the FH Vorarlberg's partner universities. They have to complete a four-week work placement in the second semester and a 15-week work placement in the fifth semester. The students also have to write two bachelor's theses. The programme concludes with an oral bachelor's examination.
