Master’s programme Bioinformatics

Content and focus of the degree programme:

The aim of the master’s programme in Bioinformatics at the University of Vienna is to train graduates who will be able to work on current research issues in bioinformatics (analysis of Big Data, structure and dynamics of RNA and proteins, systems biology analyses, genomics, transcriptomics, phylogenomics, metagenomics, metabolomics) with up-to-date measures as scientists. Moreover they should be able to represent the discipline adequately both in fundamental research and in applied areas. The focus of the degree programme is on linking information technology, biological and mathematical methods to answer biological and medical questions. The degree programme promotes interdisciplinary cross-linking of biological/medical disciplines and other disciplines such as mathematics, statistics and informatics.
