Bachelor programme Business Administration

Content and focus of the degree programme:

The bachelor's programme in Business Administration imparts basic understanding of the general conditions of microeconomic action. Students will develop the skill to apply the tools of the discipline to different tasks and to carry out academic work according to an unbiased, methodologically strict approach to problem resolution. The medium of instruction is English and German.

Definition of the field of studies

The degree programme in Business Administration deals with methodological, institutional and application-oriented management knowledge for the resolution of business administration problems.


The bachelor's programme in business administration consists of the modules of social and economic sciences basic module, basics of business administration, preparation modules 1, preparation modules 2, business administration – specialisation, business administration – dialogue with practice, special business administration, political economy, business language, law, supplementary subject, bachelor's thesis, and elective subject. The basic module consists of the subject-specific basic module, the faculty-wide basic module of the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences and the university-wide basic module. For the subject-specific basic module students have to choose four courses from the module of “basics of business administration”. In the faculty-wide basic module students have to study the subjects of introduction to business administration, introduction to sociology and introduction to political economy. The university-wide basic module consists of elective subjects, which students can choose freely from the whole spectrum of courses offered by the university. Within the framework of special business administration students have to write a bachelor's thesis. Moreover, students are recommended to spend a semester at a university abroad, using the mobility programmes of the university.
