In the teacher training programme in Nutrition and Household Economics the students will receive a theoretical introduction to the scientific and sociological principles of human nutrition before working practically with a wide variety of foodstuffs in the teaching kitchen. They will acquire skills in the nutrient-preserving preparation of (staple) foods and learn to make nutritional recommendations for specific groups of people. Courses on basic nutritional medicine and alternative forms of nutrition are also part of the study programme. The students will develop the competence to scientifically examine different forms of nutrition for advantages and disadvantages and then evaluate them. Right from the beginning of the study programme the implementation in the classroom will repeatedly be addressed both in subject didactics and in subject science.
