Definition of the field of studies

The teacher training programme “Biology and Environmental Studies” conveys both a broad scientific knowledge base in the teaching subject Biology and Environmental Studies and the didactic skills that are necessary for a teaching job.

The teacher training programme is divided into two stages. The first stage of the programme serves to introduce students to the programme. The second stage serves the consolidation of knowledge and the academic training for a future teaching job; moreover elective subjects are to be studied. These can be chosen absolutely freely from the range of courses offered by all recognised Austrian and non-Austrian universities. The courses which must be studied are taught as lectures, seminars, conversatories, projects and practical courses. The first degree examination consists of examinations about all courses that are scheduled in the first stage of the programme. The degree programme concludes with a thesis and the passing of a second degree examination. A study period abroad is recommended.
