In the teacher training programme in Greek the students will learn about the ancient Greek language and literature. In the course of the programme the students will acquire a sound knowledge of Greek grammar, which is required for reading and understanding and also for writing ancient Greek texts. The programme provides an overview of the diversity of extant Greek literature as well as of individual authors (e.g. Homer, Sophocles, Plato) and literary genres (e.g. ancient biographies). Importance is also attached to an adequate imparting of the contents in school lessons. Moreover, the students will gain an insight into historical, archaeological and cultural-historical contexts as well as into the impact of Greek literature on European culture.
