The teacher training programme in Italian offers a broad spectrum of linguistic, subject-specific and subject-didactic content. Language proficiency courses impart a very high level of proficiency in the four central language skills (listening comprehension, speaking, reading comprehension, writing). Besides grammar and cultural studies linguistics is dedicated to the methodical description and explanation of Italian as a structured language system in history and the present. Literary studies deal with epochs, genres, authors and works of Italian-language literature from the beginnings to the present day. In courses on subject didactics the students will learn what constitutes modern foreign language teaching.
